SWEP Prescriber Communique - Client Communication & Portal Log in

11 August 2017

Client Communications via email

Over recent months SWEP have been conducting trials with clients to determine if they prefer to receive communication via email rather than Australia Post. We have received positive feedback from the majority of clients contacted and as a result, they have chosen to communicate with us via this method.

In order for SWEP to reduce their carbon footprint we would like to see more clients receive correspondence via email. There are a number of benefits by choosing this method such as; the client is informed earlier which ensures an improved customer service experience for them.

Prescribers can assist in the process by confirming with your client at the time of submission of their application whether they would prefer - email or Australia post. If they would prefer email correspondence then just add their email address to the application at this time.

If their application predates the portal please email swepcentralintake@bhs.org.au to confirm that the client would prefer email communication for all correspondence.

Prescriber Website Portal and usage of log in details

This is a friendly reminder to all prescribers that your prescriber login and authorisation details are private and confidential and must only ever be used by yourself.

When a script is submitted to SWEP the authorising prescriber is solely accountable for the assessment, recommendation and outcome of the script. If you have shared your login details, you may not have oversight of the script and this may have implications for your professional accountability and professional code of conduct. In exceptional circumstances, prescribers may also be held financially accountable in the event of a failed client / AT match.

For all new prescribers wishing to register with SWEP you will be asked to agree to the terms that you will be the only person using your unique log in details. This is to ensure we maintain the highest of professional standards and do not expose SWEP, the prescriber or the client to any potential risk.

In the event that you require someone to assist with your scripts, such as an administrative staff member or an allied health assistant, then they are now able to register with SWEP as a white prescriber. A white prescriber is able to access applications on-line in our website, assist prescribers with attaching necessary supplementary documents (for example quotes) and review the status of their prescribers applications. However white prescribers will not be able to submit an application directly, nor can they escalate applications.

If your script requires review by a Clinical Advisor then they will be able to provide you with support and guidance however they are not accountable for the script as they are generally not involved in any assessment or ongoing relationship with the client. The authorising prescriber remains accountable.

If you have any questions related to this then please contact SWEP on swep@bhs.org.au
