Dear SWEP Prescribers,
The revised SWEP Prescriber Registration and Credentialing Framework - The Framework, was launched in July 2017.
At this time we acknowledged that SWEP was leading the way and entering new territory with The Framework and asked for your valued feedback.
Thank you to those who have taken the time to familiarise themselves with The Framework and provide us with really important feedback.
As a result of this feedback we have made some important changes that you need to be aware of;
- We have simplified the applications for SWEP prescribers to either upgrade their prescriber level or re-credential at the same level (refer to Table 2 in The Standard)
- We
recognise your CPD activity (30 points over 5 years) across all AT categories, rather than requiring prescribers to meet the CPD requirements for each individual AT category
- We
recognise the frequency of prescribing (# of scripts) across all AT categories and age groups rather than per AT category
- A process for special consideration has been included
- You only need to complete the application form and meet all of the criteria once, regardless of how many AT categories you are registered in
- SWEP now formally
recognises prescribing outside of the SWEP program as currency in
recognising prescriber expertise
- A process for existing prescribers to add new AT categories to their SWEP registration
It is also important for prescribers to note the following information regarding the
5 year credentialing cycle;
- For existing prescribers, the
5 year credentialing period will commence from July 2017 (the revised Framework launch date) which means prescribers will need to choose to
re-credential, or request an upgrade prior to July 2022. All new prescribers will commence their
5 year cycle from their registration date and any existing prescriber who has upgraded their status will have their
5 year cycle commencing from the date of upgrade.
- When you are due for re-credentialing SWEP will initiate this process and send you a reminder email 6 months and 1 month prior to your
5 year anniversary date.
