Last year, the TAC partnered with the State-Wide Equipment Program (SWEP) to manage the registration and credentialing of occupational therapists providing services for the TAC. Initially this was only used for OT's providing TAC services related to the assessment and provision of assistive technology.
SWEP expansion of occupational therapy credentialing
In response to sector feedback and engagement with the OTA, from 17th August 2020, SWEP credentialing will be extended to all other essential OT services for those OT's providing services to TAC clients.
These services are reflected in a new SWEP category, 'Capacity and Performance Evaluation' (CAPE) which includes OT treatment and treatment plans, as well as capacity based assessments and reviews.
What this means for you
This change will allow SWEP registered OTs to invoice the TAC for all elements of their service provision according to their assigned credentialing level.
OTs who were previously approved by the TAC as 'Framework OTs' will need to credential with SWEP in the new CAPE category and will be paid by TAC based on their new SWEP credentialing for all services. From 17th August 2020, the TAC will no longer operate the 'Framework Occupational Therapy' service model.
What you need to do
For Occupational therapists already registered with SWEP and who wish to provide services to TAC:
- and are wishing to be recognised as green for CAPE can request this category be added to their profile by emailing swepimt@bhs.org.au
- and are experienced OT's wishing to be recognised at amber or red for CAPE need to apply for credentialing in this new category using the 'Initial assignment of Occupational Therapist level (experienced)' process, outlined in The Standard (CAPE) https://swep.bhs.org.au/the-standard.php
- This needs to occur by 17th August 2020 in order for you to start invoicing the TAC based on your new SWEP credentials. Please note - applications may take at least 10 business days to process.
- OT's providing TAC services are under no obligation to credential for CAPE and can continue to charge at the general TAC rate if they wish.
How TAC will use CAPE credentialing levels
- TAC use our GEO Locator tool to find SWEP registered OTs with the relevant experience to meet their clients' needs.
- Only OT's who have selected TAC as an agency that we can share information with in their registration profile will have their details visible in the locator tool. If you wish to change your profile to either add or remove your interest in providing TAC services please login and change your registration profile.
