Over
recent years there has been an increase in the type of mattresses advertised to
have pressure relief or pressure prevention properties. SWEP would like to confirm the type of mattresses we can
provide a funding subsidy towards.
Under
the Victorian Aids & Equipment Program Operational Policies, for all AT categories,
SWEP does not fund what would be considered normal household items, including
standard mattresses for standard beds. What we do fund is pressure reducing mattresses
for hospital beds.
Mattresses SWEP will fund are those that;
xxx*If the mattress meets above requirements but is over the height of 200mm this will be reviewed by a SWEP Clinical Advisor to check any risk around rails and entrapment.
SWEP
have a range of mattresses on contract that meet these requirements and have
been evaluated to ensure they meet any relevant Standards. These are outlined in our Contracted Items Picklist Catalogue including a range of
sizes and suppliers to choose from, that should meet most of our consumer's
needs.
SWEP do not fund;
We also confirm that SWEP can only provide a subsidy towards beds that have a minimum of three functions and can later be reissued. For this reason, beds must be able to be safely cleaned and sanitised, readily stored and easily transported for reissue.
