SWEP Communique Prescriber - Credentialing Framework changes
7 November 2016
As indicated a week ago, SWEP is changing its
Registration and Credentialing requirements from November 7, 2016.
The new framework can be found on this link: https://swep.bhs.org.au/files/53/SWEP_Prescriber_Registration_and_Credentialing_Framework.pdf
The main changes can be found on Page 2 to Page 4, and are summarised in Appendix 3.
In short all new prescribers must attend either a full or half day
induction session depending on their discipline. SWEP will subsidise the
cost for new graduates.
All current prescribers will maintain their registration and
credentialing level for 3 years. The exception to this are a few
prescribers who have incorrectly been granted registration without the
necessary qualifications. These prescribers will be contacted
individually.
From November 7, 2016 prescribers wishing to upgrade to higher levels of
recognition are required to undertake competency based professional
development - currently CQU/SWEP are implementing appropriate education,
and recognition of other courses is possible in the future.
Until November 7, the current registration and credentialing rules
apply. You may wish to inform others about the new registration
requirements so that they can register before that date, or gain higher
recognition under the current rules.
