Changes to phone systems

Please find below a snapshot of the SWEP 2021-2022 Consumer satisfaction survey results.

The State-wide Equipment Program (SWEP) will be closed on Wednesday, 01 June, 2022 for a Staff Training Day and will re-open at 08.30 a.m. on Thursday, 02 June, 2022. 

An emergency breakdown service will be available during this period by phoning SWEP on 1300 747 937 and selecting option 1 - your call will then transfer to an operator who will be able to assist.

Re:  Consumer sign-off requirements on VA&EP documents

Throughout the last two years, it has been necessary for SWEP to ease the requirements for Consumer Eligibility Form sign-off, Proof of Delivery (POD), Certificate of Completion (POC), Home and Vehicle Modification documentation.   This was due to the significant challenges for practitioners, suppliers and consumers to meet face to face, whilst various Covid-19 restrictions/lockdowns were in place.

Due to the current COVID-19 outbreak affecting Melbourne and some regional areas throughout Victoria, some of our Suppliers have indicated increased delivery timeframes for some equipment and products.    

The SWEP portal will be unavailable on Saturday 24^th July from 5pm - 10pm. Please ensure you are logged out prior to this time and any work is saved.  

If you are still logged in you will be exited from the portal and any unsaved work may be lost.

SWEP have been advised of a voluntary product recall notice for the supplier Philips Australia.

Philips voluntarily decided to issue a global recall notification related to sound abatement foam used in specific Philips Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP), BiLevel Positive Airway Pressure (BiLevel PAP) devices, and Mechanical Ventilators.

The way that custom-made medical devices are regulated is changing.

A new framework for regulating personalised medical devices will commence on 25 February 2021. Under the new framework most custom-made medical devices that are currently supplied in Australia will no longer be exempt from inclusion in the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods (ARTG).  Any devices that will continue to be exempt will need to meet new requirements. If you manufacture, import or supply a custom-made medical device, you will be impacted by the changes and should review the guidance available on the TGA's website.

Annually we ask consumers, after they have received and used their Assistive Technology, to tell us how satisfied they are overall with their SWEP experience

We have again exceeded our target of at least 85% satisfaction rate as set by the Department of Health and Human Services and this has been our best year ever!
