Yesterday, 7th June the SWEP team migrated to a new IT domain, as a part of Grampians Health. The majority of this went well but we are having some phone issues today. Some of our queues are in meeting mode and some are open but with fewer staff logged in than normal, therefore our wait times might be longer than usual. We have our IT department looking into this for us.

SWEP Communique - SWEP Closed for Staff Training Day

The State-wide Equipment Program (SWEP) will be closed on Wednesday, 01 June, 2022 for a Staff Training Day and will re-open at 08.30 a.m. on Thursday, 02 June, 2022.
An emergency breakdown service will be available during this period by phoning SWEP on 1300 747 937 and selecting option 1 - your call will then transfer to an operator who will be able to assist.

Re: Consumer sign-off requirements on VA&EP documents
Throughout the last two years, it has been necessary for SWEP to ease the requirements for Consumer Eligibility Form sign-off, Proof of Delivery (POD), Certificate of Completion (POC), Home and Vehicle Modification documentation. This was due to the significant challenges for practitioners, suppliers and consumers to meet face to face, whilst various Covid-19 restrictions/lockdowns were in place.

SWEP Communique - Signing of documents during current Covid-19 restrictions

Following the recent Victorian Government announcement and current circuit breaker Covid-19 lockdown, SWEP wish to advise Practitioners that we will again be accepting Eligibility, Proof of Delivery and Certificate of Completion forms, unsigned and with written/emailed confirmation of 'verbal consent', where consumer signatory would normally be included.

SWEP Communique -TGA Personalised Medical Devices Reforms

The way that custom-made medical devices are regulated is changing.
A new framework for regulating personalised medical devices will commence on 25 February 2021. Under the new framework most custom-made medical devices that are currently supplied in Australia will no longer be exempt from inclusion in the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods (ARTG). Any devices that will continue to be exempt will need to meet new requirements. If you manufacture, import or supply a custom-made medical device, you will be impacted by the changes and should review the guidance available on the TGA's website.
Lymphoedema Compression Garment Program Update

SWEP are pleased to advise that the DHHS have now announced additional recurrent funding for this program for a term of four years, with a primary aim to increase access to compression garments for eligible consumers. At the same time the Operational Policies for the program have been reviewed.

Annually we ask consumers, after they have received and used their Assistive Technology, to tell us how satisfied they are overall with their SWEP experience
We have again exceeded our target of at least 85% satisfaction rate as set by the Department of Health and Human Services and this has been our best year ever!

SWEP acknowledges that there are risks related to the use of single point sticks, or bed sticks without a ball top.
As a result, SWEP will no longer be providing subsidy funding for certain bed sticks.
