You need to be assessed by a Consultant Physician
specialising in respiratory (thoracic) medicine, cardiology, or oncology. They
will ask you to undertake some tests to determine whether you will benefit from
supplementary oxygen and that your results comply with the Thoracic Society of
Australia and New Zealand (TSANZ) Guidelines.
This is a list of some of the tests that you may be
required to do:
Depending on test results, the specialist will determine what sort of
oxygen equipment you need and how often you will need to use it. The health
professional/AT Practitioner will apply for the AT item(s) required and complete the online application that is relevant to the Domiciliary Program on your behalf.
They will submit your Oxygen Application Form to SWEP electronically on your
behalf.
