Adam Smith

Adam graduated in 2017 as the first recipient of a degree in Pedorthics at Southern Cross University. Adam has over 20 years experience in the Orthotic industry with the last 7 years being combined with Pedorthics. In 2010 Adam created the business, Technical Orthotics which supplies custom orthoses to Orthotists and in recent years clinical Pedorthic services.

Pedorthics in its original form, bespoke footwear making is one of the oldest professions. Unlike many other allied health professions, development to a higher status has only become recognised in recent years. The term Pedorthics as a recent clarification has served to define a profession within a medical scope of practice. This means Pedorthics treats conditions that manifest in the lower limbs by the use of orthotic techniques incorporated in orthoses and medical grade footwear to improve the users' acts of daily living and quality of life.

In the future Adam wishes to continue his professional development through further studies and Pedorthic  specific research, which there is currently a shortage.
