SWEP Communique - Funding Transition

25 October 2018

We are very excited to announce that we have recently received updated information that relates to the communique released by DHHS on 28th May 2018. This communique relates to the ongoing support of clients transitioning to the NDIS. Since the release of this communique, DHHS and SWEP have continued to discuss how the State can support clients during their transition.

Based on these discussions it was identified that as SWEP funding withdrawal is progressive, funding will continue to be made available to support urgent applications for the first:
  • four months of a 12 month transition
  • three months of a nine month transition
  • two months of a six month transition.

As a result of this, SWEP can continue to receive and assess applications for people aged under 65 years living in an area that has commenced transition up until the funding withdrawal completion date (please see table below for dates).

Note the VA&EP is a state-wide program and applications are assessed using the existing Prioritisation Framework which does not take into account where the applicant lives.

The VA&EP will continue to be available to people aged under 65 years who do not meet NDIS access and those who are an NDIS participant who may have a health related need for AT.
