Dear Prescribers,
As always thank you all for your valuable feedback during the transition to online submission of applications for the Lymphoedema Compression Garment Program (LCGP).
As we previously mentioned in our last communique all applications must be submitted via our website from the 1st of September 2017. As from today we will no longer accept any applications lodged by mail, email or fax.
I would like to thank everyone who provided feedback following the release of the orthotic quotation template. Some further updates have been made to meet your requirements. The updated version and be found here.
Dear Prescribers,
I am pleased to announce that the revised home modification service is in the final stages of testing and we are on the verge of releasing the model. We anticipated the release would be this month, however we have decided to postpone the release to next month to finalise adjustments to the online application. SWEP acknowledges the postponement may be an inconvenience for some Prescribers, however our preference is to deliver the best service possible and we believe a short delay will achieve this.
Following a robust tendering process that commenced in September 2016, SWEP can confirm Air Liquide Healthcare P/L (Air Liquide) as the successful bidder to provide home oxygen under the Domiciliary Oxygen Program.
Ballarat Health Services/SWEP and Air Liquide have entered a new agreement that means that Air Liquide will continue to provide oxygen to eligible clients for the next two years, until 30 June 2019.
Dear Prescribers,
Thank you all for your patience, co-operation and feedback over recent months following the transition of the Lymphoedema Compression Garment Program (LCGP) from Mercy Health to SWEP.Dear Prescribers,
SWEP is pleased to announce that the new Home Modification model will commence this August. The new model is founded on a framework of Builders and Tradespeople that make up a panel of approved suppliers throughout Victoria. The Panel will provide Prescribers with the opportunity to identify which Builders and Tradespeople operate in the same location as Consumers. Just like the current service, there will be no expectations that Prescribers will have to determine the structural integrity of the home that is being modified as this is the role of Builders, Draftspersons and Architects. The new model will provide greater capacity for Prescribers to address the functional and clinical needs of Consumers in relation to their home environment.
Since SWEP went live with the website portal in July 2016, we have received feedback in relation to Allied Health Assistants being able to have access also.
SWEP are pleased to announce that we have set up a SWEP administration registration. This will allow Allied Health Assistants access to SWEP prescription forms. They will be able to fill them out and submit to their prescriber, attach documents and review the application online.
SWEP needs to be clear about what administration access allows. Administration users are unable to submit a form directly to SWEP, they cannot escalate applications and cannot replace the role of a SWEP registered prescriber.CQU & SWEP have now released some new dates for the Green Induction - Introductory Assistive Technology Education.
This introductory one-day workshop is designed for Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists who are either new graduates or have less than 2 years clinical experience. This workshop is highly recommended for all therapists who are Green SWEP prescribers and have less than 2 years of clinical experience.SWEP has been advised that the equipment manufacturer/supplier, KCare, has entered receivership and ceased to trade.
KCare subsidiary entities are also affected, including Mobile Repairs VHHE (VHHE).

Dear Prescribers,
RE: Requests for Clinical Advisor's to validate scripts
Over recent times we have noticed an increase in the number of scripts that are being submitted with a request for Clinical Advisor's (CAs) to validate the script. At present we can receive 4-5 per day that require validation.
SWEP would like to advise the planned web portal outage/upgrade was successfully performed yesterday.
Please be aware of the following changes:
Dear Prescribers,
With the introduction of the SWEP Prescriber Registration & Credentialing Framework in November 2016 we have received a lot of questions and feedback from clinicians working in the field and what impact these changes may have on them as individuals or as departments and teams. We would like to take the opportunity to explain some of the rationale behind the new requirements in the Prescriber Registration & Credentialing Framework as well as some of the further changes we will be putting in place going forward.
