ATSA Independent Living Expo Releases its Free Conference Program

The ATSA Independent Living Expo has released its free-to-attend conference program for both Sydney and Brisbane, aimed at furthering professional development for therapists and providing valuable information to families, friends and carers of people with disability.
One of the most comprehensive events for people with disability, seniors, allied health professionals, rehabilitation providers, and interested members of the public, the ATSA Independent Living Expo will be held in Sydney (Sydney Showground) and Brisbane (Royal International Convention Centre) in 2017.

Dear Prescribers,

With the introduction of the SWEP Prescriber Registration & Credentialing Framework in November 2016 we have received a lot of questions and feedback from clinicians working in the field and what impact these changes may have on them as individuals or as departments and teams. We would like to take the opportunity to explain some of the rationale behind the new requirements in the Prescriber Registration & Credentialing Framework as well as some of the further changes we will be putting in place going forward.

CFA Vic Branch will proudly host the 6th Annual Regional State Conference "Person Centred Continence Care" at the RACV Club Resort in Torquay.

This event will take place across two days from 18-19 May 2017 and will include a pre-conference afternoon workshop followed by a full day of exciting presentations and discussions.

SWEP Supplier Communique - Home Modifications and Associated Services

6 February 2017
As part of a new State-wide Equipment Program (SWEP) home modification service model, we are seeking Expressions of Interest (EOI) for Home Modification and Associated Services.

The EOI has been advertised on the Victorian Government's online tender advertisement site, Tenders Vic - www.tenders.vic.gov.au. Registration of Expressions of Interest close on 2 March 2017.

Dear Prescribers,

As part of the new SWEP home modification's model, an Expression of Interest (EOI) will be released to invite Building Professionals to apply for membership to a Home Modification's Panel. The Panel will consist of registered and credentialed Building Professionals that have the ability and committed to provide home modifications for Clients and Participants that complies with the new model's standards and requirements.

SWEP Prescriber Communique - Wheelchairs and Scooters for Adults Training Day

ADVANCED/AMBER/RED:  WHEELCHAIRS & SCOOTERS FOR ADULTS (Full day)
When: Friday February 10th 2017, 9.30am to 4.30pm
Where: CQUniversity, Melbourne - 120 Spencer St, Melbourne, VIC, 3000
Cost: $365 (includes GST)

Workshop Information:
This one day workshop is designed for Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists who wish to further their knowledge and skills with regards to wheelchairs and the available features for adults. This workshop is suitable for therapists wishing to become advanced prescribers, including Green prescribers aspiring to become Amber prescribers, Amber prescribers aspiring to become Red prescribers and for Red prescribers to enable skill maintenance. This workshop is also suitable for therapists who are not SWEP prescribers however require advanced knowledge and skills to assist them in Wheelchair prescription. This workshop will be presented by Yvonne Duncan, SWEP Clinical Advisor & Senior Physiotherapist.

SWEP Email Communication Issues due to blacklisting.

Dear Prescribers,
 
Unfortunately last week the Ballarat Health Services and SWEP email domains were blacklisted, impairing our ability to communicate with other external email servers. 

RCH Advice regarding trampolines

Trampolines are not suitable for children under 6 years of age. They should be considered sports equipment, not a toy.  Use enclosed trampoline nets to avoid falls from trampolines. This information is sourced from the Royal Childrens Hospital website

SWEP Communique Prescriber - Credentialing Framework changes

The main changes can be found on Page 2 to Page 4, and are summarised in Appendix 3.
In short all new prescribers must attend either a full or half day induction session depending on their discipline. SWEP will subsidise the cost for new graduates.
